I’m so excited to share a little peek at my upcoming children’s book, Leo and the Dragon of Sound.

This story is very close to my heart because it was written for little listeners, especially children who experience the world loudly. Some children hear sounds more strongly than others. A noise that feels small to one person may feel huge, sharp, or even painful to someone else. That does not mean the child is being difficult. It means their body is asking for help.

Leo and the Dragon of Sound follows Leo, a brave little hero with Sound Shields, as he learns to move through a world that can sometimes feel too loud. Along the way, he meets a dragon who understands sound in a very different way. Together, their story becomes one about kindness, courage, empathy, and learning that needing quiet is not something to be ashamed of.

I wanted this book to feel magical and gentle at the same time. There are dragons, castles, and adventure, but beneath all of that is a simple message: children deserve to feel seen, understood, and supported.

This book is for children who cover their ears when the world gets too noisy. It is for parents who are trying to understand what their child needs. It is for teachers, caregivers, and grown-ups who want to help children feel safe without making them feel “too much.”

Helpful things for little listeners can include wearing headphones or earmuffs, taking a quiet break, holding something soft, breathing slowly, moving away from loud spaces, or asking a grown-up or friend for support.

Most of all, Leo and the Dragon of Sound is a reminder that sensitivity can be part of someone’s strength. Sometimes bravery does not look like being the loudest person in the room. Sometimes bravery looks like knowing what you need and learning how to ask for it.

I cannot wait to share Leo’s story with you soon.
